This exhibition features artwork that explores and highlights the complex relationship between behaviour, culture and health.

From COVID-19, alcohol addiction and air pollution, to Parkinson's and the the medical practice of autopsy, the artworks in this selection encourage us to look through a new lens at health: What is our health behaviour influenced by? How is our culture embodied? When does our environment get under our skin?

Works include:

• 'Parkinson's Dance' by Kat Brooks-Pugh explores how movement impacts those living with Parkinson's.
• 'Our Air' by Adam Isfendiyar explores the impact of air pollution in London.
• 'In Order to Bloom' by Laura Foster tells the story of the complexity and strength of motherhood, coinciding with the ongoing battle against the disease of addiction.
• ‘The Pandemic Tarot’ by Andrea Riviere is a deck of 24 illustrated cards that result from and seek to provoke a reflection on the impact of Covid-19 on the individual’s perception and anticipation of the future.
• ‘Beyond the Body: a portrait of autopsy’ by Anna Suwalowska examines the procedure of autopsy, how scientific and ethical standards on post-mortem have changed over time, and the dilemmas posed by autopsies in different cultures.

The exhibition has been developed by the Wellcome Centre for Cultures and Environments of Health in collaboration with the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

WEH/OEH has worked with Dphil student Calum Smith and Oxford University Hospitals arts charity Artlink to show the exhibition in Oxford.
