Third International Workshop on Ethics and Human Enhancement
Monday, 03 June 2019 to Tuesday, 04 June 2019
Call for papers
We are pleased to announce an international workshop on ethics and new technologies of human enhancement (for example, artificial intelligence, neurochemical interventions, transcranial stimulation devices, etc.) co-organised by BIOethAI+ Project and the Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities (University of Oxford).
Although the main focus of the workshop is ethics, proposals for participation that consider human enhancement in its different ways (physical, cognitive, emotional or moral) from other areas such as philosophy of medicine, philosophy of technology and political philosophy will be welcome.
The confirmed keynote speaker is Julian Savulescu (Wellcome Centre for Ethics and Humanities and Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, University of Oxford), who also participated in the previous editions of this workshop, held in Granada on February 2010 and June 2014. Other confirmed speakers are Hannah Maslen and Jonathan Pugh (Oxford Uehiro Centre for Practical Ethics, University of Oxford).
Those interested in presenting a paper should send an abstract in Word format of 500 words maximum, in either English or Spanish, before 14 April 2019. Applicants will be notified by April 30 whether their abstracts have been accepted. Each paper presentation will take 20 minutes, followed by a 10-minute discussion. A selection of conference papers may be published in a volume or journal special issue on human enhancement.
